About Cleggan

Cleggan is a small pier village on the Connemara coast in northwest Galway, where rocky inshore reefs and mixed offshore terrain between 8–25m offer diving that punches well above its modest profile. The area is known for resident sunfish from July through September, schools of horse mackerel and pollock around offshore pinnacles, and the jewel anemone gardens found on shaded rock faces throughout the area. A short boat trip from Cleggan reaches the Inishbofin Island dive sites, which add considerable range to what the harbour can access.
