About Spiddal Pier
Spiddal Pier on the south Connemara coast provides one of Connacht's most convenient shore dives — gear up, walk to the water, descend. The pier walls and seabed between 3–15m are textbook macro diving: nudibranchs, velvet swimming crabs, sea hares and resident edible crabs on a mixed substrate of rock and sand. Night dives here reveal a completely different community of species, and the site's proximity to Galway city makes it popular for weeknight club dives throughout the year.
