About Farne Islands

The Farne Islands off Northumberland are England's premier wildlife dive experience. Around 6,000 Atlantic grey seals breed here, and underwater the juveniles are fearlessly curious — they tug fins, nibble regulators and barrel-roll inches from divers' faces in behaviour that makes every dive memorable. The kelp-covered rocky reefs at 12–30m hold tompot blennies, edible crabs, lobster and wrasse; tidal currents can be strong between islands; and several accessible wrecks add variety. Inner Farne's seal colony is one of the most impressive wildlife spectacles in the North Sea.
