About Lundy Island

Lundy Island in the Bristol Channel holds a special place in English diving history — it was designated England's first Marine Nature Reserve in 1971 and remains one of the most species-rich dive destinations in the country. Grey seals swim with divers on every dive; the wrecks of HMS Montagu and half a dozen other vessels create artificial reefs colonised by jewel anemones and sea fans; and the open-water pinnacles at 6–50m produce encounters with basking sharks and sunfish in summer. The strong tidal streams that make Lundy challenging also make it extraordinary.
