About Mizen Head

Mizen Head marks Ireland's most southwesterly point, where deep-water surge channels, offshore pinnacles and seamount terrain drop past 40m into the open Atlantic. This is a specialist site: basking sharks arrive in May and June, sunfish drift lazily in summer, and blue sharks have been recorded on the outer reefs. Diving is entirely dependent on swell and wind — the exposed position means calm Atlantic high-pressure windows are the only viable time — but when those conditions arrive, Mizen offers world-class open-water diving.
