About Skellig Islands

The Skellig Islands sit 12km off the Kerry coast in the open Atlantic — two jagged UNESCO World Heritage pinnacles rising 218m above the ocean. Below the surface, vertical walls plunge past 40m through pristine cold water largely untouched by run-off or disturbance. Basking sharks, grey seals and massive pollock accompany divers; visibility commonly reaches 15–25m in calm conditions. This is expedition diving requiring a boat charter from Portmagee or Valentia, full drysuit kit, and careful weather windows — but the reward is some of the finest diving in the British Isles.
