About Old Head of Kinsale
The Old Head of Kinsale is a dramatic headland south of Kinsale town where vertical walls drop to 40m at the tip, channelling strong tidal streams that bring nutrients — and the large predators that follow them. Blue sharks, porbeagle and tope are seasonal visitors; the resident wreck population (the Lusitania lies 18km offshore in 93m but there are accessible wrecks in sport-diving range) and massive conger eels on the inshore reefs make every dive eventful. This is advanced diving: plan tides carefully.
